December - January
Orlando Tangelos are sweeter than their Honeybell cousins (which are actually "Minneola Tangelos"), with an interesting flowery flavor and aroma. Orlandos came out of the same USDA Variety Improvement program that brought you Honeybells, and have very similar parentage, but slightly different attributes. They have a more classical shape, and are actually easier to peel than Honeybells. Orlandos ripen a full month earlier than Honeybell, and the flavor is sweeter -- and they're every bit as juicy as their cousin.
